Beijing Advanced Innovation Center for Big Data and Brain Computing (BDBC) which is affiliated with Beihang University is one of the first-established advanced innovation centers in Beijing. Our center is a competitive institute strong in researching theory system of data modeling, knowledge mapping and swarm intelligence learning under the direction of data science, intelligence science and cognition science.
Our mission is to build BDBC into a significant impact international platform of science & technology initiative and talent training as well as a world-class big data science and brain-machine intelligence innovation research center. Meanwhile, we will endeavor to develop the core of next generation intelligent systems —— machine brain for solving the significant science and industry development problems of brain-machine system applications. Furthermore, creating the new interdisciplinary research fields of data, intelligence and knowledge, developing the theory system of brain intelligence and big data, and producing a set of top research results are also our goals.
As a world-class research center for big data science and brain-machine intelligence as well as a place gathering with qualified masters and high-level talents, we are devoted to leading the research and application of future data science and computational intelligence, accelerate the interdisciplinary research of computational science, data science and brain science, promote the innovation of efficient & intelligent next generation computing and data analysis technologies and change the future through data-centric intelligent machines, systems and applications.
With an enduring dedication of the pursuit of top level, BDBC offers a wide range of researching fields including data science and computational intelligence, novel computing technologies and systems, brain cognition and simulation, data engineering and brain-machine systems. Since opportunity coexists with challenge, we will also make efforts to solve the problem that computation effectiveness meets barriers. Furthermore, energy and performance as well as low learning efficiency and flexibility also become crucial issues.
Since 2015 our center has received the funding of 50 million RMB-100 million RMB per year, and 70% of it is used for recruiting new overseas and domestic talents. Now we have an enrollment of 52 faculties as well as about 70 Postdocs and Ph.D. students in our center. With a large number of elites in science and technology, we have the Nobel Prize winner—Albert Fert, Chinese Academy of Sciences—Jinpeng Huai, Thousand Talents Program Professors—Wenfei Fan and Jie Xu, Yangtze river scholars Distinguished Professors & National Science Fund for Distinguished Young Scholars Professors—Xiaowu Chen, Yunpeng Wang and Huiwen Wang and Thousand Youth Talents Program Professors—Haogang Zhu, Peng Wang, Weisheng Zhao, Haiming Yu and Xinkai Wu. We also have an international team of world class research capabilities drawn from all over the world, such as Yongyi Mao from Canada, Ali from HongKong, Jianlei Yang from the USA, etc. The stable workforce work together in a harmonious environment to produce high level academic achievement and promote social development.
